Answer questionnaires with Smart Answer AI in Questionnaires tool

We have sunsetted Atlas. Use the Questionnaires tool to manage all your questionnaire-related operations.

Go to Questionnaires

Select Questionnaires from the Communication drop-down menu.

Start responding to a questionnaire

1. Select a questionnaire that you want to respond to from the table.
   
   

Tip: Save time by automatically using Smart Answer AI. It uses responses from questionnaires that your organization previously completed, signals, and documents to provide responses.

1. Choose whether to automatically answer questions using Smart Answer AI or to skip directly to the questionnaire and start answering all questions manually.
   
   
2. When you use Smart Answer AI, we step you through the process and give you control over the responses.
   1. The system will warn you that some answers may change. Changes to answers may occur because the LLM is non-deterministic, meaning it will respond with variation based on changes in resources (such as new documents added) or changes in Confidence. 
   2. The AI system will automatically use any previously answered questionnaires, signals, and documents in your Evidence Locker to provide responses. If this is your first time answering a questionnaire in SecurityScorecard, you must upload documents such as SOC 2 Type II attestations, Penetration Test reports, and similar for Smart Answer AI to provide answers.
   3. Once you are satisfied with the uploaded documents, click "Next." The system will ask you how confident you want the LLM to be when answering. This is the confidence in the Accuracy of the answer. A Low confidence tells the system that lower accuracy is OK, usually resulting in more questions being answered.
       
3. While Smart Answer AI is processing, the system will tell you the progress. You can cancel processing at any time, which means you haven't gotten any responses. If responses already exist and you are running Smart Answer again, the system will revert to previous answers when processing is cancelled.

4. When processing is complete, the system indicates which questions were answered using AI, including tracking the history of responses.

The system also tells you the sources for each response.

Proceed through an in-progress questionnaire

To resume working on a questionnaire after a pause, first select it from the Questionnaires table...



 

...then select Continue questionnaire on the overview page.



 

You can proceed through a questionnaire two different ways:

• After completing a question, click Next to go to the next one in the sequence. This helps you address categorically related questions or conditional questions, which appear depending your answers to preceding questions.
  
  
   
• Expand questionnaire categories and select nested questions in the left navigation panel. This is helpful if, for example, you want to focus on specific areas with dedicated team members.

Tip: The tool automatically saves your answers, so you can pause and resume work on the questionnaire as needed without losing any answers.

See the issue findings related to a question

To help you answer a given question, check for any relevant issue findings on your Scorecard. For that question, click More on the right and then click the Related issues tab. Note any issues.



 

Work on the questionnaire with your team

To ensure the best responses to the questionnaire the first time around, bring in team members who are subject matter experts in specific areas or owners of certain processes or tools.

Get team members to collaborate 

To have team members answer or review the entire questionnaire or multiple sections, add them as collaborators:

1. Click the Add within Access in the General section of the Questionnaire.
2. Set their permissions, add the person or the email, and send a message

   Copy the link to share externally.

Assign team members to individual questions or categories

If you need team members to address specific areas, but you do not want to involve them in the entire questionnaire, assign questions or categories to them.

In any question, click Add next to Category Assignee or Question Assignee, depending on the level at which you want them involved. Then select the assignee's name from the drop-down list. Then click Save.

The assignee's name appears next to the category or question.

Submit your completed questionnaire

Remember to click Submit at the bottom right of your questionnaire when you complete it. 

When you submit your questionnaire, the sender receives a notification email with a link to view it.
