When downloading csv reports unexpected data is displayed in a Excel

Problem

When downloading a csv report from the platform, unexpected data appears in an Excel Cell. 

Answer

Excel has a limit of 32,767 characters per cell. When any cell within Excel exceeds the character limit, it will move to the next line hence making the data appear as broken.

In this case it may be necessary to use another application such as Numbers (Mac) or Google Sheets.
