Question
What is the Scoring Date (a.k.a. effective date, platform date)?
Answer
SecurityScorecard compiles data on a daily basis. Meaning that the data is updated daily and contains all the data gathered for a full day. Our system, after gathering that data for the day, needs to compile it and push it to the platform.
In other words, the data of today is still being gathered, and can only be compiled and published after today. The usual delay for this whole process is 48 to 72 hours.
Scoring Date (a.k.a. effective date, platform date) lags behind a few days to the current date. This happens because for the changes to be reflected on the Scorecard, the updated scorecard needs to be calculated and then published on the platform (as specified above under Definition). This process usually takes 2-3 days from the date that the said changes are made to the Scorecard.
Current date *** | Data being gathered | Data being processed | Data visible on Platform |
Day 1 | Data from Day 1 | ||
Day 2 | Data from Day 2 | Data from Day 1 | |
Day 3 | Data from Day 3 | Data from Day 2 | Data from Day 1 |
Day 4 | Data from Day 4 | Data from Day 3 | Data from Day 2 |
... | ... | ... | ... |
*** Simplified timeline for illustrative purposes, due to many factors, It is possible that the processing of the data may last more than 1 day. The data visible on the Platform does not update on any specific time during the day.
Almost all changes that require a Scoring recalculation would follow the concept of Scoring Date and will take a few days before getting reflected on the Scorecard. This includes scoring updates related to when the Findings are Approved for Removal from the Scorecard (E.g found here: Finding marked Resolved but still showing under Open findings) and any changes made to the Digital Footprint of the Scorecard.
As an example the below finding was marked for resolution today (May 15th, 2024). The Scoring Date at the time of writing this article sits at May 12th, 2024. The below finding will drop off from the Scorecard when the Scoring date moves to May 15th, 2024.
Note: The scoring advance time (exact scoring date and time) is not fixed. It is recommended to refer the scorecard day when scheduling a task using a script.
