How Zaps Work in SecurityScorecard
A Zap combines two components:
- A trigger, or a specified event in one app.
- One or more actions in other apps that the trigger initiates.
You can use SecurityScorecard as the "trigger" or "action" app, depending on your needs, as in the following examples:
- A drop in your overall score causes Gmail to send an email to your company leadership or security team.
- A score change generates a new row in Zoho Analytics.
- Detection of new issues drives two consecutive actions:
- Enumeration of the issues in a Google Sheets spreadsheet.
- Creation of a Zendesk Support ticket with a link to the spreadsheet for reference.
- An updated record in Salesforce adds a scorecard to a portfolio.
Install the App
- Select Marketplace from the top menu in the SecurityScorecard platform.
- On the Marketplace page, start typing Zapier in the search box and then select Zapier to go to the installation page.
- On the Zapier page, click Install.
- Accept the invitation to use SecurityScorecard with Zapier.
- Allow Zapier to access your SecurityScorecard account.
When the installation completes, you are redirected to Zapier to create a Zap.
Create Your First Zap With a SecurityScorecard Trigger
To complete the SecurityScored integration with Zapier, build your first Zap using SecurityScorecard as the trigger app.
The steps vary depending on which app you use for the action. In the following example, a scorecard issue type will trigger a Slack direct message.
Create a SecurityScorecard Trigger
Follow the guided steps in Zapier to create a trigger:
- Click Create Zap.
- Name the Zap.
- Select SecurityScorecard as the trigger app.
- Select a scorecard event for the trigger and click Continue.
- Select your SecurityScorecard account.
- Select a scorecard to be the source for the triggering event.
- Select the triggering issue type, and click Continue.
- Click Test Trigger.
- When Zapier indicates the test is successful, click Continue to create an action.
Create an Action
In this example, the action is a direct message from Slack.
- Select Slack as the action app.
- Select an action, in this case a direct message, and click Continue.
- Select a Slack account to associate the action with.
- Configure the action settings:
- Select a Slack user in your organization to send messages to.
- Enter the message to send.
- Add any other optional details.
- Click Continue.
- Click Test and Continue.
If the test is successful, the targeted Slack user receives the configured message. - When Zapier indicates the test is successful, turn on the Zap to activate it.
The activated Zap appears on your Zaps page, where you can make any changes to it.
The new Zap also appears in the Rules & Actions tab of the Zapier app page in SecurityScorecard's Integrate360° Marketplace.
How to uninstall the app
- Turn off and delete any SecurityScorecard related Zaps in Zapier first.
- Select Marketplace from the top menu in the SecurityScorecard platform.
- On the Integrate360° Marketplace page, select Zapier.
- Click Uninstall to deactivate the integration.
