The Risk score tab in Vendor Intake lets you choose how Titan AI calculates an overall risk score for each vendor request. Every question you mark as affecting risk contributes points, and this tab decides how those points are combined into a single number.
Use it when you want the score to reflect how your organization thinks about risk. For most forms, adding up every score is enough. If risk builds on itself across areas, such as the sensitivity of the data a vendor handles and how much access it has, you can group questions, then choose: multiply the group totals into one score, or use each group as its own condition in Risk rules.
Before you begin
The Risk score tab combines your individual question scores, so set those up first. On the Questions tab, turn on Affects risk for each question that should count toward the score and set its points. A form with no scored questions can’t have a risk score. For how points work for each question type, see Set up vendor intake in Titan AI.
Choose a calculation method
Go to Vendor Intake > Form builder > Risk score, then select a calculation method under Calculation method.
| Method | How the score is calculated | Best for |
| Simple · Add all scores | Adds the points from every question that affects risk into one total. | Forms where every scored question should count equally. This is the default. |
| Grouped · Combine group totals | Adds the points within each group, then multiplies the group totals together. | Forms where risk compounds. A vendor that’s high in every group scores far higher than one that’s high in only one. |
| Grouped · Add group totals | Adds the points within each group, then adds the group totals together. | Forms where you want to tier on each group separately. |
If you never save a risk score configuration, Titan AI uses Simple · Add all scores.
Set up score groups
When you select Grouped · Combine group totals, a Score groups section appears. A group is a set of questions whose points add up.
- Select the default group name (Group one or Group two) and enter a custom name. Group names are required.
- In each group, select Add question and choose the questions that should contribute to it. Select the Remove question (X) icon to take one out.
- Check the Calculated score preview at the bottom. It shows the formula that will be used, such as Sum of “Group one” × Sum of “Group two”.
- Select Save score.
A few things to know about groups:
- Grouped scoring uses two groups, Group one and Group two. Each group needs at least one question.
- Only questions with Affects risk turned on can be added to a group.
- A question can be in both groups. Its points are counted once for each group it’s in.
- A group with a total of 0 is treated as 1, so it doesn’t make the overall score 0.
- If the highest possible score would be extremely large, Titan Assess can’t save the configuration. Use smaller point values on your questions and try again.
Example
Say your form has two groups. Data sensitivity totals 4 points and Access level totals 3 points.
- With Grouped · Combine group totals, the overall score is 4 × 3 = 12.
- With Grouped · Add group totals, the overall score is 4 + 3 = 7.
- With Simple · Add all scores, groups aren’t used. The score is the sum of every question’s points.
Grouped scoring widens the gap between a vendor that's high in both areas and one that's high in only one. You can also use groups on their own as separate conditions in risk-level rules. See Set risk level rules for vendor intake in Titan AI to learn how.
What happens to existing requests
Each request is scored using the method that was in effect when it was submitted. Changing the calculation method affects new requests, and requests you’ve already received keep their original scores.
