Use the Ransomware Analytics report to measure how close an organization may be to a ransomware attack.
The Ransomware Score is a specialized risk indicator focused on the vulnerabilities and attack vectors most commonly exploited in ransomware attacks. It isolates the environmental attributes most strongly correlated with ransomware deployment, providing a dedicated view of this threat. The model incorporates security gaps, such as specific port exposures or unpatched services, that historical data shows are preferred by ransomware operators.
Note: The Ransomware Score is not related to the scorecard rating and does not directly affect it. However, issue types that affect the Ransomware Score may also impact the scorecard score.
The report helps you understand an organization's susceptibility to an attack by displaying and correlating several key pieces of information across the following widgets.
Global Average Ransomware Score
This widget displays the global average ransomware score across all scanned companies for reference. Use it as a benchmark to compare against your organization's or portfolio's score. A higher score indicates a greater likelihood of a ransomware attack. The gauge indicates the likelihood level, ranging from Very Low to Very High, left to right.
Ransomware score
This widget displays the ransomware score for a selected portfolio over a specified date period. The score reflects the likelihood that an organization will be ransomed, based on issue types flagged on its scorecard that were present in other organizations that experienced ransomware events. A higher score indicates a greater likelihood of a ransomware attack. The gauge indicates the likelihood level, ranging from Very Low to Very High, left to right.
Issue Types With Biggest Impact On Ransomware Score
This widget displays a bar chart of issue types with the largest impact on the Ransomware Score for a selected portfolio over a specified date period. Bars to the right indicate issue types that increase ransomware risk, while bars to the left indicate issue types that reduce it. Each bar is labeled with a numeric value reflecting the magnitude of its impact on the score. Remediating issue types that increase ransomware risk reduces the likelihood of a ransomware event and triggers a score recalculation.
Note: Remediating all findings of an issue type does not raise the score by the full value shown. The score increases slightly based on relevant issue types still present on the Scorecard and other conditions.
Which issue types that may lead to Ransomware Attacks and why
This widget displays a table that provides context for each issue type flagged as a ransomware risk for a selected portfolio over a specified date period.
The table includes the following columns:
- Issue Type: The name of the flagged issue.
- Ransomware and Related Risk: An explanation of how the presence of this issue type can contribute to a ransomware event.
- Recommendation: Suggested remediation steps to reduce exposure.
- Ransomware Score Impact: The numeric value representing the issue type's effect on the Ransomware Score.
Troubleshooting
No score appears in the report
If the Ransomware Score widget displays blank, there is no data available for your current filter settings. Try adjusting the date period or Scorecard filters to retrieve data.
