Question
What is the difference between "Claimed" and "Attributed" in Digital Footprint and how does each of these status affect the attribution of an asset on the Scorecard?
Answer
Both the "Claimed" and "Attributed" status show that the asset belong to the Scorecard.
The "Claimed" status is a way for the owners of the Scorecard to confirm that they have run an additional validation and can confirm that the asset belongs to them.
The "Attributed" status means that the attribution validation has only been run by SecurityScorecard and that SecurityScorecard has found evidence that links the Domain/Subdomain/IP to the Scorecard it is found under.
Note: Please note that if the attribution reason for the IP or Domain is no longer valid, the IP or Domain will still drop off from the Digital Footprint automatically regardless of if the asset is in "Attributed" or "Claimed" status.
