Question
What does wildcard (*) next to a domain represent? Example: *.example.com
Answer
The asterisk/wildcard (*) along with a domain represents that anything under the Apex is resolvable through DNS and has an IP. This occurs when the owner of the domain has not explicitly defined the Domain.
As an example, if on the Digital Footprint of example.com, there is an entry *.example.com, it would indicate that any combination of a subdomain under example.com would be resolvable through DNS.
SecurityScorecard would only list a wildcard (*) entry if it has been setup like that by the owner of the Domain.
