Overview
When attempting to modify your corporate hierarchy directly within the SecurityScorecard platform, you may encounter errors such as "An error occurred, please try again later", "Forbidden", or failure during a bulk .csv upload.
Why am I receiving an error?
While buttons such as Add Company Parent, Add Company Child, Remove From Hierarchy, or Upload changes via .CSV are visible within the interface, direct execution of these actions by customer administrators is restricted.
Security & Data Privacy Restrictions
Corporate hierarchies grant parent organizations elevated, administrative visibility into their subsidiaries - including access to potentially sensitive asset data and internal findings. To prevent unauthorized access (e.g., an unrelated organization erroneously adding a third-party domain to their structure), all direct modifications are restricted to the SecurityScorecard internal teams. Direct, unverified customer editing of the tree structure is currently a feature request and is not supported for self-service.
How to Request Hierarchy Updates
To add or modify your hierarchy, you must submit a verification request through the platform.
1. Requirements for Adding a Subsidiary
Ownership Rule: The parent organization must have at least 50% legal ownership of the subsidiary being added.
Verification Process: All modifications are securely reviewed and validated by the SecurityScorecard Support team before taking effect to protect ecosystem data integrity.
2. Steps to Submit a Request
If you already have a verified hierarchy structure in place, use the platform's native intake system:
Log in to the SecurityScorecard platform.
Navigate to your Hierarchy tab.
Click the Add Subsidiaries button (this option is only available if a hierarchy is already present).
Provide the required subsidiary information and submit the request.
💡 Note: If you do not see the Add Subsidiaries button or need to build a large-scale hierarchy from scratch, please reach out directly to your account representative or submit a request to SecurityScorecard Support with a
.csvtemplate matching your corporate structure so our team can perform the validation and update the tree on your behalf.
